Benay Hicks is the strategic architect behind Book Harvest’s communications, branding, marketing and advertising, events, and fundraising. With a team of fellow masterminds, she helps to inform the look and feel, sound, and sources of Book Harvest’s footprint in communities where programming takes place. In addition to resource development, outreach and messaging, public relations, and all organizational and presentation materials, her portfolio includes the execution of Book Harvest’s beloved annual Dream Big Book Drive and Summer Block Party.

Benay has more than 17 years of nonprofit experience, including serving as Director of Operations for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Durham and Orange Counties in North Carolina. She is currently on the board for Grow Your World, a North Carolina nonprofit, and serves on the Partnership for a Healthy Durham Communications Committee.

Benay received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Religion from Simpson College, a Master of Theological Studies at Boston University, and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University.
